Between blue moon and strawberry moon changing a habit

The Habit Has Served Its Purpose

A deeper Kundalini reflection

There comes a moment on the path when we realise that many of our habits were once intelligent.

They were not mistakes.

They were strategies.

Ways the mind learned to protect the heart.

Ways the nervous system learned to survive uncertainty.

Ways we learned to belong, achieve, avoid pain, seek approval, stay safe.

The habit may have been overthinking.

Controlling.

Rescuing others.

Perfectionism.

Keeping busy.

Holding tension in the body.

Even spiritual seeking itself can become a habit.

The habit was never the enemy.

It was a faithful servant.

But servants are meant to retire when their work is complete.

The suffering begins when we continue to wear armour long after the battle has ended.

Kundalini awakening is often described as an ascent of energy, but in many ways it is a descent of awareness.

Awareness moving deeper into the body.

Into the breath.

Into the hidden places where old patterns have been quietly running the show.

As consciousness enters these forgotten spaces, the patterns are no longer hidden.

The light arrives.

And what happens when a dark room is illuminated?

Nothing needs to be removed.

The darkness simply cannot remain.

This is why force rarely creates lasting transformation.

What we resist often strengthens.

What we judge often persists.

What we lovingly witness begins to soften.

The awakened path is not one of violence against ourselves.

It is a path of profound intimacy.

An intimacy with our thoughts.

Our emotions.

Our wounds.

Our desires.

Our fears.

And eventually, our deepest essence.

The ancient yogis taught that every habit leaves an impression upon consciousness — a samskara.

Each repetition deepens the groove.

The groove becomes a tendency.

The tendency becomes an identity.

And identity becomes a prison.

Kundalini begins to loosen these grooves.

Not by erasing them.

But by reminding us that we are far larger than them.

You are not the groove.

You are the awareness that notices the groove.

You are not the pattern.

You are the presence within which the pattern appears.

You are not the fear.

You are the vast sky through which fear passes like weather.

As this recognition deepens, habits begin to fall away naturally.

Not because you conquered them.

But because they no longer match the frequency of your consciousness.

Like autumn leaves releasing from a tree when their season is complete.

The tree does not struggle.

The leaf does not fail.

The cycle simply reaches its natural conclusion.

So tonight, beneath the moon, place one hand upon your heart and one upon your belly.

Feel the breath moving between them.

Feel the ancient intelligence of life breathing you.

Then quietly ask:

What am I ready to stop carrying?

Not because it is wrong.

Not because it is bad.

But because it is complete.

And then listen.

The soul speaks softly.

The awakened heart hears clearly.

The habit may not disappear overnight.

But a deeper knowing has already begun.

And once consciousness awakens to itself,

there is no returning to sleep.
